"End Afghanistan War" bill seeks cosponsors
Background: How badly is the Afghanistan War going? One in five U.S. combat deaths in Afghanistan this year were caused by Afghan security forces who turned their American-provided weapons on their U.S. "allies". The threat of attacks on U.S. troops by the Afghan troops they are supposed to be training has become so serious that Gen. John Allen, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, has assigned U.S. soldiers, called "guardian angels," to protect sleeping U.S. troops from the Afghan troops that share their bases.
Take Action: HR. 780, the Responsible End to the War in Afghanistan Act, would end combat operations in Afghanistan and limit funding to the safe and orderly withdrawal of all U.S. troops and military contractors. Friends Committee on National Legislation has set up a special toll-free number you can use to contact your Representatives. Please call 877-429-0678 and urge your Rep. to sign on as a cosponsor of HR 780. Tammy Baldwin and Gwen Moore are currently the only Wisconsin Representatives co-sponsoring.
