We need you ... to RSVP!
Our Carbon Free, Nuclear Free Wisconsin lobby day is just three weeks away. If you can join us in Madison on Tuesday, February 23, please RSVP today by sending an email to farsettad@gmail.com or calling 608-250-9240. The RSVP deadline is February 16.
We need your participation on February 23 to send a strong message to our state legislature: Wisconsin's energy future can be both carbon free and nuclear free! Strengthen the Clean Energy Jobs Act by removing the nuclear provisions!
The first public hearings have been held on the Clean Energy Jobs Act, which directs Wisconsin's response to climate change. And one thing is clear -- the current language will change.
Legislators need to hear from you. They're certainly hearing from corporate interests, who want to make the bill's nuclear provisions even worse.
The next several weeks will decide Wisconsin's energy future. Will legislators strengthen our economy and clean up the environment, by investing in energy efficiency and renewables? Or will they gamble on a costly energy source that generates radioactive nuclear waste?
It's up to you.
Join us in Madison on February 23, and RSVP today! Your early RSVP gives us the time we need to set up appointments with your state representatives. And those in-person meetings are the most effective way to have your voice heard.
As you know, Wisconsin law has placed important safeguards on nuclear reactors for decades. The Clean Energy Jobs Act would weaken these safeguards, completely removing the most important one: that no new reactors can be built in Wisconsin until there is a federal repository for the high-level radioactive waste. Removing that would leave communities across the state vulnerable to radioactive waste stockpiles.
You can RSVP for Carbon Free, Nuclear Free lobby day, or ask questions, by contacting WNPJ Carbon Free, Nuclear Free campaign coordinator Diane Farsetta at farsettad@gmail.com or 608-250-9240. Thank you!
